Marietta, GA - We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Dennis James Wiley age 71 of Marietta, GA. Dennis was born on May, 12, 1953, to Ester and Annie Lee Wiley in Chicago, IL. Dennis attended Crispus Attacks Elementary and Wendell Phillips High School. He served in the Navy and later obtained his GED as an adult. He would attend Olive-Harvey college at a later time.
Dennis worked @ the DHS for 23 years in various positions. He worked his way up and left after becoming one of the top managers. He later changed career paths and became a CTA bus operator for 15 years before retiring. He loved being able to do one of his favorite things for work, driving. He relocated to Albuquerque, NM after retiring, this was something that he had always looked forward to doing as he wanted to live in a warm climate.
Dennis had three children during his life: Delora Jeanette Wiley, Damien James Kenneth Wiley, and Denisha Jeanetta Wiley, eight grandchildren: (Delora) Datearia J. Wiley, Dashyla J. Wiley, Darīus James Wiley, and Da Halea’ J. Leverette, (Denisha) Sienna S. Leon, Vega J.S. May, Damir J.A. May, and Ember-Amour J. May, and two great grandsons (Datearia) Damarian and Damarīus.
Dennis was preceded in death by both parents, his brothers: Ester Jr, James Earl, (the) twins, Kenneth, and Lester, his sisters: Rebecca and Mary, his grand daughter Sienna, and his niece Tramaine.
Dennis leaves behind to cherish his memories: his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings: Jennie Lee, Danny (Yvonne-beloved SIL), and Vanessa (Darryl Sr), Nephews: Lawrence, Leque, Rahsaan, and Darryl Jr, Nieces: Jennifer, Joanne (Tracey), Michelle, Aqueelah (John), Rashidah, Kamillah (Terrance), Anisah, and Adriane, and a host of family and friends.
God gives us our biological loved ones but sometimes we are blessed enough in life to get to choose some: his brothers: Clarence Sebastian, Adlai McGee, and Calvin Adams and close friends, Kathleen Kennedy and Deborah Leslie. His daughter Dommique, bonus children: Michael, Traylanda, Anthony the Mack, and Shrita and bonus grandchildren: D’Andre, LaChanta, Me’Kael, and Tamarjon, and his best friend, Joyce Kennedy.
Dennis was a great and devoted dad, an awesome grand and great-grandad, a family man, provider, and protector. He loved reading, writing, gaming, dressing well, driving, convertibles, the Chicago Bears, and having dinner/fun times with his loved ones. He was Batman and a honorary Dr through the school of “House” and Google. He was a great chess player, a cowboy as evidenced by his love of boots, and had a crazy sense of humor. He always made sure to say Lord’s will when he made plans and that he knew that God always had watched over him through his life. He is loved very much and will truly be missed.
