It is with great regret and sadness, we announce the passing of Dr. Christine Sarah Mayambala at the age of 71.
Born and raised in Kampala, Uganda, Dr. Mayambala came to the United States in 1970 getting degrees at the University of Wisconsin, Michigan State Univeristy, and Indiana State University. After her training, she moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia for several years before her career took her to Dallas, TX. Over time, she realized her love for Stone Mountain, Georgia was too great to ignore and moved back in 1999 where she has lived since.
A passion of Christine's was education. Due to this passion, despite having a demanding career, she decided to go back to school to get her Ph.D at Walden University doing her dissertation in geriatric epidemiology along with working with the Alzheimer's Association.
Another passion of Dr. Mayambala's was teaching. As a professor at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, she loved teaching, tutoring, and mentoring her students. She was known by her students to go to great lengths to make sure they understood the subject matter at hand.
Dr. Mayambala was a devout Catholic member of Christ Our Hope Catholic Church in Lithonia. She was an exceptional mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, friend, teacher, and co-worker. She was greatly loved and will be truly missed.
